Composer Scott Krippayne Inspired by Yamaha Clavinova CVP309PE Digital PianoThe music of Christian artist and composer Scott Krippayne is a source of inspiration to his many fans. For Krippayne, the same goes for his instrument of choice, the Yamaha Clavinova CVP309PE digital piano. "Simply sitting down at a great instrument seems to inspire me," states Krippayne. "I've found that a great sound can help spur on inspiration."The accomplished singer/songwriter recently hit the road with noted Christian singing group Point of Grace for its "I Choose You" tour, along with vocalist Charity Von. The performers will visit 25 cities nationwide through the end of April. Yamaha Artist Scott Krippayne In addition to performing his own compositions, Krippayne will play the Clavinova as part of the back up band for Point Of Grace's selections. According to Krippayne, the show follows a non-traditional format, with performers and performances interspersed throughout, rather than standard opening act/headliner arrangement. "It's more of a family tour," notes Krippayne, "I'll be playing with Point of Grace's band and solo as well," he adds. "It's a tour I would pay money to go see, but I'm glad I don't have to!" The artist, known for such works as It Goes Like This…, All Of Me, Bright Star Blue Sky, More, Wild Imagination, and his newest release, Gentle Revolution, previously used the CVP-200 series, which he described as "incredible." For Krippayne, the 300 series has made the first-rate instrument even better. "It's great looking and great sounding and so easy to get around," says Krippayne. "The sounds are updated and even richer." In addition to performing and rehearsing the roughly 30 songs he will play on tour, he has grown to rely on the Clavinova for demo recording, as well as composing for himself and other artists. Krippayne has written songs for many top Christian artists, including Avalon, Point of Grace, Jaci Velasquez, FFH, True Vibe, John Tesh and Sandi Patty, among others. "The Clavinova has built in drum loops and different song styles – these could be country, pop or jazz-oriented loops," he says. It's a great writing tool for me to be able to utilize these features. As a writer, it gives me a feel for what a song will sound like during the writing process." While the instrument fulfills his needs as a professional writer and performer, Scott maintains that it's equally well-adapted to houses of worship. "I think the Clavinova is a wonderful instrument for any church," says Scott. "For a small to midsized church that might not have the space or budget for a grand piano or organ, the Clavinova has extraordinary piano sounds and the organ sounds are wonderful as well," he points out, adding, "and it doesn't need to be tuned!" "Not to mention the hundreds of other useful sounds – like pads, brass, woodwinds and percussion – as well as other features that come standard with this instrument," Krippayne continues. "For a larger church that may already have a grand piano or organ, the Clavinova can be a wonderful rehearsal instrument.
